You should shop at Express

I have written about Express on the DCFashion Fool many times. From time to time I post “Where to Shop” in DC for men and Express has been one of my go to places. Why should you shop at Express? The store carries current trend fashions at affordable prices. It’s a great place to buy a reasonably priced suit. And the brand is really good with size inclusivity. Express showcases their clothes on a variety of sized models so customers can get an idea of how things will look. Now is even a better time to give the store another look.

Full disclosure, I have been an Express Ambassador for several years so it’s not uncommon for me to sport something from the store. And while I’m a big fan of some higher end brands, I always seem to find something from Express. Lately, the store has been upping its game. As a result of the pandemic, comfort has been one of the stores focus. Look at their suiting options. Now you can find suits made with stretch material and drawstring waist. There are more selections with bold prints. Plus, there are sporty modern takes on jacket such as the one I’m wearing. Sure, you can still find the classic blazer but these new options now give men flexibility in terms of what it means to wear a suit.

Not only has the clothing had a refresh but there have been some changes in their business model as well. The store is now opening Express Edit locations. These are smaller freestanding stores curated especially for the cities they are in. So far DC has two locations. One on F Street NW and the other on 14th Street NW. These stores are not located in malls but rather in high traffic areas making the in-store shopping experience more accessible. Another reason to shop at Express.

Secondly, the company is looking more to their customers for style inspiration. They do an excellent job of displaying how customers are wearing their clothes. People may find their latest posted social media looks up for sale on the company’s website simply by using the hashtag #expressyou. In addition, earlier this year, Express launched its Express Style Editors Program which will help budding entrepreneurial stylists hone their skills through coaching, education, mentorship, and meetups. As part of their new Community Commerce program, celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe was just named the lead style editor. Her Rachel Zoe x Express collaboration will drop in April, followed by a second installment in May.

These efforts along with the recently launched Express Style Trial in which members can rent clothes monthly are helping to foster a sense of customer loyalty to the brand. In essence the not only is it convenient to shop at Express but there are styles and programs that make you keep coming back. As we enter the holiday season, the price points are another reason to shop at Express. Coming off Black Friday and now with Cyber Monday, there are some good deals especially when everything in the store is at least 50% off. The only downside is that at these prices some of the more popular items are selling out.

My Express Style

I’m a big fan of the suit. I wanted something a little different and this jacket paired with a turtleneck a mod sixties vibe. For a more conservative look, I can easily swap out the jacket for a more traditional blazer and pair with a shirt and tie. However, my look is still appropriate for the office and can easily be worn for a night out.
