It’s no surprise that I’ve been hitting the wineries of Virginia a lot this summer. It’s one of the great ways to enjoy the weekend without having to venture too far out of the city. And with over 230 vineyards in Virginia, each trip can be a new adventure. So when this invitation to celebrate my good friend Lacey Faeh’s birthday came, I knew another fantastic venture was in store. Perfect timing because I had just received some new casual clothes from the clothing line, Trashness.
As part of writing this blog, one of the things I love to do is share where I’ve gotten the clothes you see me in. Often, most things are from well-known brands. But what I like even better is discovering and sharing new brands. One of my new discoveries was Trashness. Trashness is a menswear company based in Nieuw-Vennep, The Netherlands. The brand features a compact collection of dress shirts and casual wear. I love that you can shop worldwide and have it delivered to your doorstep.
I’ve worn Trashness dress shirts with my suiting. I like them because they produce some spread collar and very wide spread collar that work really well with modern day suiting. But I also wanted to give their casual wear a try as well and I figured a great casual look would be perfect for this summer wine excursion. I paired a simple white spread collar dress shirts with salmon colored shorts.
Typically if you’re tall like me, it’s a good idea to stay away from shorter length shorts. I normally prefer the length of my shorts to be just above the knee. Too short and they look disproportionate to my body. However sometimes rules are meant to be broken. The Trashness shorts hit just a hair below mid thigh and although shorter than I normally wear, worked well my long legs.
The moral? It’s good to know what styles work and don’t work with your body. However do not be so rigid that you’re not willing to try something different from the norm. You might be presently surprised. Plus you’ll have more style options if they work out.
Our wine tasting excursion was courtesy of Reston Limousines where we explored wineries in Delaplane, Virginia (Blue Valley Vineyards, Aspen Dale Winery and Three Foxes Winery).
