Spread the love

In August of this year, Target dropped some exciting news for fashion enthusiasts – a brand-new designer collaboration with Rowing Blazers. Now, if you haven’t heard of them, Rowing Blazers is the brainchild of Jack Carlson. He’s an archaeologist, author, and former U.S. national rowing team member. Initially, it was all about crafting sharp blazers for rowing clubs, but they’ve evolved to offer a broader range of clothing, including rugby and polo shirts, outerwear, knits, and accessories.

You know, Target has a knack for these fantastic designer partnerships that everyone eagerly anticipates. Earlier this year, Target partnered with three distinct women-founded brands: Agua BenditaFe Noel and RHODE. These limited run collaborations produce the must-have items that people want in their closets. This Rowing Blazers collaboration was no exception. While those collections were women focused, the new Rowing Blazers has something for everyone – men, women, pets and even some cool home items.

Jill Sando, Target’s executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, summed it up perfectly: “For nearly 25 years, Target has partnered with some of the biggest and brightest names in the industry, bringing guests on-trend designs at an incredible value.” This fall, it’s all about Rowing Blazers, a brand that’s known for its colorful twist on American classics.

My Target X Rowing Blazers Pieces

Now, let’s talk about my personal picks from the Target x Rowing Blazers collection. I snagged two blazers, the Men’s Button Blazer and the Men’s Plaid 3-Pocket Blazer, both from the Rowing Blazers x Target line. These jackets are made from a recycled polyester-wool blend, and the best part? They only set me back $60 each, which is quite the steal compared to the Gucci x Rowing Blazers collaboration blazer at $1,150. I wear a 40 Regular, and these Target jackets in medium fit me perfectly. They’re true to size, and the quality is impressive.

Next up, I couldn’t resist the Rugby Stripe Sweater in both the yellow/navy and pink/red combinations. Made from a midweight recycled fabric blend with spandex, these sweaters are versatile and comfy. I’m 6’2”, and the mediums I chose run slightly big, but it’s a good fit overall I’m partial to the yellow/navy combination as they are the colors for my alma mater, the University of Delaware. But I’m feeling that the pink/red combination will resurface a lot during Christmas time! I also picked up the Croquet Strip Cable Knit Sweater. This is made of cotton and recycled cotton and is a fresh take on this traditional with its multicolored stripes.  All sweaters come in at $40, which is quite reasonable for the quality.

Now, let’s talk pants. The beauty of this collection is how you can mix and match pieces for different looks. I paired the Plaid Pants with the matching blazer and cable knot sweater, the Twill Pants with both the Button Blazer and the Yellow/Navy Rugby Stripe Sweater and the Corduroy Pants with the Pink/Red Rugby Sweater. The only downside here was the inseam length – most pants only had 32 inches, and at 6’2”, I typically need 34 inches which is disappointing. There were some 36” inseams but even at the start of the sale, they were only available in limited sizes. All pants are $45.

Conclusion

The new Target x Rowing Blazers collaboration is a winner for the menswear pieces. The mix and match nature of the pieces can create a variety of looks and I found the quality excellent especially for the price points. And it’s not just for men – they’ve got a wide range of options for women, kids, and even items for your home and pets.

Because Target collaborations are so popular, pieces sell out very quickly. As of this writing many of the pieces online are already sold out. If you are still looking for something from the collaboration, you may be able to find some pieces at your local Target store but act fast!
