Did you know that DC residents drink the most rosé in the nation? Well as a DC’er I one of those who enjoys a good rosé. So when the Williard Intercontinental hosted their Rosé Romp I was excited to get the invitation.

The Williard has been notorious for their annual Rosé Romp. Historically, the party is held during the Cherry Blossom festival however this year the party was shifted to June. And what would be the perfect day? That would be National Rosé Day, of course.

Normally the party is held on the Williard’s exquisite outdoor terrace however this year the weather was not cooperating so it was moved inside. And while we could not enjoy a beautiful spring day on the terrace, the Williard’s interior still made for a lovely backdrop. The day’s rose was from Chateau d’Esclans, which boasts its popular Whispering Angel rosé. The wine paired nicely with the spring-inspired cuisine prepared by The Willard’s critically acclaimed culinary team. And no good party is complete without live music so we danced the afternoon away with the Bachelor Boys.

The invite said wear my springtime best so I thought shorts with a blazer was the way to go. One of the easiest ways to dress up a spring/summer look is to add a blazer. Short suits have become more and more popular of the last few years however the tonal pattern of the shorts with the blazer is a little too daring for some. The solution is contrast. For my look, I opted for darker shorts with a white blazer. Of course I chose pink. After all we would be drinking rosé!

To keep it really casual a polo shirt or a button down shirt with no tie is a great way to look dressy yet relaxed. Because this was more of a special event, I went dressier selecting a white dress shirt with a pink/blue bow tie. For shoes, I chose baby blue loafers. To keep it casual, I suggest going with white sneakers. My hat was the finishing touch to complete my Rosé Romp look!

Opinion? For an all you can drink/eat dance party, the Rosé Romp is a DC party not to be missed and usually sells out. My advice? Make plans early to go next year!
