Washingtonians love their brunch and I am no exception. On any given Sunday it is rare that I will pass up meeting a few friends for one of my favorite meals of the week. If the gang says, “Let’s do brunch,” 9 times out of 10 my answer is going to be yes.
With the brunch idea in mind the first question becomes, “Where should we dine?” Fortunately DC has no shortage of options when it comes to that question. From small plates, to a la carte entrees to the full on “All you can eat” brunch buffet, choices in DC are endless. And the bonus of it all is that most have some sort of bottomless drink choice. Naturally of course, we were all in for the bottomless.
While I was definitely not up for the “All you can eat” choice, I was concerned that an a la carte option may not fill me up especially drinking bottomless mimosas. That could be dangerous! Enter Tredici Endoteca. (And for the record, I took Uber!)
Tredici Endoteca is located in the St. Gregory Hotel just south of Dupont Circle toward midtown DC and almost bordering West End. I know what your thinking. It’s a restaurant in a hotel but don’t let that fool you. Afterall, some of the cities’ best restaurants are located in hotels. Consider the Michelin star rated Blue Duck Tavern located in the Park Hyatt.
Portion sizes are large and easily sharable and we definitely had our fill. We started with the Meat and Cheese Board that was listed as a “Small Plate” however it’s quite ample. For entrees, we opted for the Moroccan Egg Scramble, Steak Frites, Fried Chicken and Waffles and the Avocado Toast. Tredici Endoteca serves Mediterranean- inspired food hence the Moroccan Egg Scramble and the Fried Chicken and Waffles was served with Mediterranean spices for a slightly different take on this brunch favorite.
Tredici Endoteca is one of those hidden gems not to missed. The restaurant is divided into two sections, partly in the lobby of the hotel. It looks more like a cozy upscale library. While the bar area features big open windows with lots of natural light and showcases a well appointed bar. Speaking of the bar, if you don’t want to do the bottomless, I’d recommended getting selecting a bottle of the Veuve Clicquot. For $45 you get a bottle of the Brut. $55 will get you a bottle of the Rosé. Either is a steal for a restaurant price.
