Recently I was challenged to spend a day in Walmart fashion. You know me. I love a good challenge. Think about it. If I could accept the challenge to get a man’s Brazilian, I could easily find some cool fashions to wear. I mean style and fashion is my thing. By the way, if you missed “manzillian” experience, check out my Instagram. There will be more on that subject in an upcoming post.
So with my new Walmart Fashion challenge accepted, I decided to pick out some new summer looks. As the DCFashion Fool, I think it’s important to showcase great styles at a variety of price points. Walmart is known for affordable fashion so could I find some great things to take me through my day? Not surprisingly, the answer was a resounding yes. With a large arsenal of “Brands to Love”, I found three looks to get me through my day. Let’s see what I got.
Look 1 – Athletic Style
I liked to workout first thing in the morning so Look 1 features my athletic style. Last year with the gyms closed and the country under orders to stay home, I developed a routine of working out at home. My home workout wear was mismatched, tattered and falling apart. But since no one saw me, it didn’t matter. Now that gyms are open and I’m working out more outside it was time for an upgrade. I chose a tank and shorts by Champion. I love the breathable mesh used in both the tank and the shorts. As a bonus, the top is reversible! For shoes, I snagged a pair of K-Swiss. I’ve been a big fan of the classic K-Swiss look years. My new pair has a modern feel with the perforated hole detail replacing the traditional stripe. To be honest, I got these because these follow the hot white trainer style that is so fresh right now and can be worn for a multiple of occasions.
Look 2 – Casual Style
Now that I am going out more, I have made a conscious effort to be more deliberate in my dressing. After a year of wearing sweats, pajamas and ratty gym clothes, it’s nice to wear looks that are more put together from head to toe. For business casual, you can’t go wrong with a polo and khakis. To keep it modern, I’m wearing this slimmer cut polo from U.S. Polo Assn. For my pants I chose a more While my look like the traditional straight leg pant. Versatility is the key to these pants. My Izod khakis are made of a nylon tech fabric. The tech fabric provides movement and flexibility, so they’d be perfect on the golf course. They also make a great travel pant because of their resistance to wrinkling. Adding the K Swiss from my workout look and I had the perfect look for running errands. I finished the look with denim jacket. While it may be hot outside, it’s freezing in my office. I like to have a jacket on hand if I get cold. It’s also a light jacket to have on hand for those summer nights when it gets a little chilly. This vintage inspired jacket is by Jordache. Yes, it’s that same Jordache that sparked the designer jean craze of the 70’s and 80’s. Swap out the khakis with these vintage jeans and you’d have another great look. And I found this nostalgic brand right at Walmart!
Look 3 – Swim Style
Last summer, I didn’t get any pool or beach time. That means for this year, I’m taking advantage of any chance to be near the water possible. Now don’t think I’m out swimming laps. From Look 1, you know I worked out earlier. I more of a splash around when I get hot or have someone bring me a drink by the pool kind of guy. Either way, a colorful pair of swim trunks sets the stage to look fantastic for a day at the pool. How about these from U.S. Polo Assn? They paired perfectly with my polo and when worn with my new K-Swiss, I could arrive in style and be ready to hit the water in a moment’s notice!
So how do you think I did in my challenge? I think I crushed it! I was pretty impressed with the brand selection from Walmart Fashion. They had a nice selection of brands and names I trust. From summer must haves like polos, shorts and swimwear to covetable on-trend pieces like trainers and denim, Walmart is definitely a destination for affordable summer fashion.
I am working in partnership with Walmart and I am being compensated for my participation in this campaign. All thoughts/opinions are 100% my own.
