One of the highlights of New York Fashion Week was the Tanner Fletcher ‘Spring Summer 2025 collection entitled, “The Artist Dilemma”. According to co-founders, Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasel an artist’s dilemma isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It was this thought that inspired their collection presented during New York Fashion Week. The duo had so many creative ideas that they didn’t know what to do with them all. They wanted to put every creative thought into action. So instead of narrowing down their creative decisions, they decided to just go for it and that’s when their collection came together.
For those that don’t know the real-life couple and design duo, Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell, launched their first collection in 2022. Their line Tanner Fletcher, is an emerging genderless brand specializing in ready to wear, handbags, home and jewelry that push the boundaries between masculinity and femininity.
Even their presentation was a work of art. Instead of a runway show, the collection was shown as a presentation. The models did not just stand as hangers for the designs, they were tasked with some sort of activity. These activities seemed to transcend a variety of time periods further supporting their theme for an overload of ideas. The different activities provided a cohesiveness to the collection.
The presentation seemed more of performance art held in a museum space which added character to the day. And that was a good thing. Some prefer a runway show over a presentation because they can see the movement of the clothes. Because the models were active, attendees got to see the movement of the clothes. Plus, they had the added bonus of a closer look at the designs.
The company is based in New York and is nominated for CFDA’s Emerging Designer of the Year award for the second time in a row.
My Tanner Fletcher Look
Usually if I’m going to a specific designer’s collection, I try wear to wear looks from that designer. I paired my Tanner Fletcher pussybow shirt with a suit by V/ivienne Westwood.
And I actually got to meet Tanner!
