We are now in the height of summer and it is time to make sure you are up to date on all the summer trends!  We hope you’ve cleaned out your closets because you are going to want to make room for some new essentials for the season. While you still may be rocking the spring trends, The DCFashion Fool is now ready to equip you with the men’s summer fashion trends for 2022.

We are barely a couple of weeks into summer but now is the perfect time to update that wardrobe. Many of the stores whether brick and mortar or online are having some fantastic sales. Things are going fast and there are some great deals! Stores are already making room for fall fashion. It is as if September is just around the corner. But not to worry with the variety of men’s summer trend options, there’s still plenty to stock your closet and get your style on point.

Shopping online is a great way to shop. There’s access to selections at all price points and a multitude of options. However, there’s something to be said about shopping local. You can touch and feel the clothing, see how things fit and the then there’s the thrill of immediate gratification. You walk out with your finds.

Stores like Nordstrom and Bloomingdales carry a variety of brands at a variety of price points. While you can find luxury brands like Gucci over at City Center DC located in the heart of the city.  Plus,  in Union Market, new stores like Scotch and Soda are a great option for fashion finds. And if you need custom clothing, Christopher Schafer can help you craft a look that’s uniquely you. For our men’s summer fashion trends for 2022, all the clothes were shopped locally however for those who are out of the area or cannot get to these stores, we have provided links to shop online.

Earlier this June, we were back at Good Day DC with Wisdom Martin to discuss the 2022 men’s summer fashion trends for 2022. If you haven’t had chance to check it out, give it a peek. We even had a surprise model grace the spot at the end! Your summer trends? Summer Suiting, Bold Prints/Bright Colors, Logo Prints, Swimsuit Sets and Hootchie Daddy Shirts.

 Summer Suiting

Even though it’s getting warmer out there, there’s still may be a need for wear a suit from time to time.  Special events like a wedding, gala or fancy cocktail event.  But summer’s especially in DC can bet extremely hot. When shopping for a summer suit, look for light weight fabrics like linen, cotton, silk blends and even some lightweight wools. Casey and I are wearing custom suits from Christopher Schafer.

Bold Prints/Bright Colors

This is a continuation from what we saw in the spring. Just because we change from season to season doesn’t mean suddenly, the old trends are over. We saw bold prints and colors in the spring and this is continuing for summer.  Tony is wearing an elevated casual look meaning it’s great for a variety of settings. The shirt is loose in a bold print and can be worn either tucked or untucked. His pants are a mauve which is a great color for summer. It’s bright but not too bright and his look a variety of settings. His look is all from Ted Baker.

Bold prints and bright colors also work well with a more casual look. On Lester, we puta bold colored sweatshirt with rust color denim. It can be hot outside but sometimes, it can be a little chilly in heavily air-conditioned spaces. This look would be ideal for those who travel and tend to be cold on a plane. Both the sweatshirt and denim are from Scotch and Soda.

Logo Prints

Designers love to put their logo on their clothes and some have turned them into some really cool prints. David is sporting Gucci logo pants worn with a slim fit cardigan. Notice the logo print is only on his pants. Typically, it’s too much to sport the logo from head to toe unless it’s a tracksuit or swimsuit set.

Swimsuit sets

A swimsuit set is a fun way to up your swim wear game. On Donnell, the top and bottoms match in the same print. Look for a print that is both bold and colorful. This hot men’s summer trend has a lot of versatility. The trunks are ideal for swimming and the top is an awesome stand-alone piece. Pear the shirt with jeans  or wear with the matching swimsuit. This look is all from Polo by Ralph Lauren.

Hootchie Daddy Shorts

One of the most talked about men’s summer trends is the Hootchie Daddy shirt. It can be seen all over social media and guys seem to be flocking to the trend in droves. These shorts are a return to the short shorts that were popular in the late 70s and early 80s. Typically they can be in a lightweight material and may have a drawstring. On Brandon, we opted for short white cutoff jeans by Rag and Bone. The hootchie means they are short. Usually around 5 inches in length where typically shorts run 7 inches or longer. Brandon’s were paired with a logo tee shirt from Versace and a statement belt from Ferragamo.
