I’ve always wondered how do you make a tailored look a little more relaxed. I have to admit; I’m one of those guys that feels comfortable in a tailored look. Give me a jacket and tie and I feel like I own the world. So when I came across a knit blazer, I knew this was a match made in heaven. It’s little more relaxed but still giving me the tailored look I love.
The knit blazer is something new for me. Last spring I had the opportunity to go to Austria and naturally one of the things I like to do while visiting new places is to shop. I like to see what guys are wearing in other parts of the world. One of the trends that caught my eye was the knit blazer. It seemed to be everywhere. I was immediately drawn to this Hugo Boos striped version and I had to pick it up.
Since I got it in spring it was really too hot to wear during the summer so I’d almost forgot I had it. I needed something to wear to run a few errands for an upcoming Cancun trip and then head to a couple of weekend events. I remembered the blazer and thought it would be perfect for my day. It is unlined and made of a jersey material that wears almost like a sweatshirt that made it extremely comfortable. Better yet, because it’s structured like a blazer I knew it would work for my later events.
I love the versatility of the blazer. II knew I wouldn’t have time to change so I needed something that would work all day. I paired my knit blazer with a tonal white dress shirt and flat front blue slacks. To keep the relax feel I added white sneakers.
A knit blazer is a great way to keep a tailored look in a much more informal way. You get the structure of a blazer in comfortable fabrics that are great for on the go and can also be travel ready (less wrinkling than a traditional blazer). Pair it with a dress shirt and tie and it can be dressed up. Worn with jeans it takes your casual look up a notch and is a great alternative to traditional fall jackets.
