Just announced, J. Crew has entered into collaboration with Lacoste to produce exclusive polo shirts for men, women and kids. The collaboration is part of J. Crew’s “Discovered” seasonal section.
The Lacoste will feature an exclusive archive version of the famous alligator logo from 1983. In this version, the logo is blue with ‘Lacoste’ in cursive within the alligator. Current collections feature a green alligator with no text. The shirts will be available in a variety of colors such as white, navy, burgundy and orange.
J. Crew started its online “Discovered” project in the summer of 2013, to sell a rare selection of items that Frank Mutygens, head of menswear design, and his team come across in their travels. J. Crew works with other brands to produce hard to find pieces or select specialty items to J. Crew shoppers. Along with the new Lacoste collection, J. Crew had a series of collaborations with such companies as New Balance, Bulova and Arc’teryx.
The Lacoste brand was first introduced in 1926 when Rene Lacoste inspired by his nickname had an alligator embroidered on his blazer. J. Crew began as a mail order business in 1983 and later opened its first store 6 years later.
