Spring is here and I’m ready for it. I’ve got a light gray suit that is ready to celebrate the change in season. While I’m a big fan of the fall/winter looks I have to admit the cold and the snow can really get to me. Now is the time when days get longer,, the weather’s warmer, the celebrated cherry blossoms start to bloom and Washington seems to go through a new awakening.
This is also a great time of year to wear a suit. It’s not too cold where you have to have a heavy coat for warmth and it’s not too hot and muggy where you turn into a sweaty mess just thinking about putting on your suit jacket. It’s time to get out those lighter suits and step out in style. A gray suit is a nice way to transition from winter to spring.
Lately, I’ve been obsessed with gray having worn different tonal gray looks all winter (See; The tonal gray overcoat and the gray down puffer vest). Since I’m not really ready to let go of the gray I wanted to see if I could translate it into a spring look. Fortunately, gray makes an excellent backdrop when paired with the lighter shades of spring.
This season, I’ve chosen a lighter gray suit in both fabric and color than the one I sported during the winter. I’ve paired it with a light blue shirt and a pink paisley tie. With the blossoming of the cherry blossoms, the pink is a great color to wear as a tribute to one of Washington’s most famous tourist attractions. For an additional pop of color add a pink pocket square or lapel pin flower. Monkstraps are dress shoe option. And yes, my tote is gray too!
