Washington has some great rooftops with some amazing views. One of the most spectacular is at the Top of the Gate, the rooftop of the Watergate Hotel. Recently I popped over for drinks with friends and to take in the magnificent DC skyline.
The Watergate Hotel is one of DC’s newest luxury properties and I was excited to take in the 360 degree views of the city. Naturally I couldn’t hit the Top of the Gate dressed like a slob but as the DCFashion Fool, I figured I could pull something together. I’ve had an obsession with the windowpane print and fell in love with this blazer as soon as I saw it. Thomas Pink is always great for shirts and ties but I’d never tried them for suiting. Wow, was I pleasantly surprised. Give me a Thomas Pink sale and I’m a happy man. Now that there’s an outlet just 30 minutes outside of DC at the Clarksburg Premium Outlets, I can see more Thomas Pink in my closet.
You can wear wool in the summer. If you do, try something in an unconstructed lightweight wool. Mine was perfect for my rooftop excursion. I was able to remain comfortable in the summer heat except for the fact that I forgot my sunglasses. Fortunately, the Top of the Gate hooked me up with a sporty pair of sunnies to protect my peepers.
For me, drinks on the rooftop are a great way to end the day. Others might prefer the rooftop for sunrise. The Top of the Gate offers yoga and circuit training classes however I’ll stick with the evening drinks. Plus they have a daily selfie contest. Don’t you think I should win? After all, my pics do make me look so natural.
