Ever feel the need to get out of the city but not go too far? How about a trip to Virginia Wine Country? That’s exactly what I did with several friends not too long ago. We packed a picnic basket and headed to one of my favorite vineyards, Early Mountain.
That’s one thing I love about Washington. That is its proximity to a host of activities that are not too far if you feel the need to venture out of the city. Virginia wine country is one of those activities that should be on your ‘To Do” list. Armed with a basket full of charcuterie and my camera (of course), we took a short drive to the vineyard.
Early Mountain Vineyards is the old Sweely Estate Winery that was purchased by Steve Case, the founder of AOL and his wife Jean. The couple has transformed the bankrupt winery into a thriving business in an absolutely stunning location. Little did they know it’s also a great place for a photo shoot. The old barn on the property served as my backdrop.
While a fashion blogger might be enthralled with the incredible scenery ideal for fashion shoots, Early Mountain does make some tasty wines as well. We went during Early Mountain’s annual oyster festival. There’s nothing better than sipping a crisp wine with some of the best local oysters. The bonus was sporting my custom Alive Shoes kicks!
