Earlier this year, after years on Connecticut Avenue, Burberry quietly closed. The company did not renew its lease and has since moved over to the new CityCenter DC shopping district. Joining the ranks of Allen Edmunds, Hugo Boss, Kate Spade and Tumi, Burberry is helping the center of town become the latest must-do shopping destination. Also moving in is French luxury retailer, Zadig and Voltaire and Paul Stuart plans to open a 10,000 square foot store in the spring of next year. This will mark the company’s first US addition since 2012. In May of this year, Women’s Wear Daily reported that Hermes will also open a location in CityCenter DC. Bounded by 9th, 11th and H Streets and New York Avenue, this new part of town is will be an excellent place for a little “retail therapy.” Washington’s cache for great shopping is definitely on the rise!
