Have you really taken a look at DC lately? I mean DC is really coming into its own. The city is now known for its fantastic dining experiences and with the new developing there are so many places to explore throughout the city. And did I mention new event spaces? So imagine how well the city used some of these new spaces to really make DC JazzFest spectacular this year.
The Wharf located in the southwest section of DC is now one of the hottest places to go and be seen. What better place to host this year’s DC JazzFest? Outside along the pier, guests could listen to free jazz all weekend. What a terrific way to spend time with the family listening to great jazz, enjoying food and drink galore and exploring a terrific marketplace.
Inside, music lovers got to experience the smooth sounds of jazz at the Anthem, one of the newest concert venues in the city. The deceptively large venue is starting to bring in some world-renowned acts. The 3 level site can hold up to 6,000 people. This is 5 times as large as the popular 9:30 Club. I was invited to the festival by the good folks at Chase who sponsored the lounge at the Anthem.
Attending the DC JazzFest from the Chase Lounge was the best of both worlds. From the top of the Anthem, I could enjoy the music outside but I also had a spectacular view of the party on the pier. Inside in the lounge, not only was I wined and dined but I had to chance to meet Grammy award winner, Robert Glasper just moments before he took the stage. His super group R+R=Now featured some of the best jazz artist performing today. And not to be outdone, after he performed was Tony Award winner, Leslie Odom, Jr., Aaron Burr himself from the hit musical, Hamilton. It was a magical night!
By sponsoring amazing events like DC JazzFest, it’s no wonder Chase is coming to DC. As part of the new presence in Greater Washington, Chase will be out and about at various events, destinations and happenings that make the region so special and unique. Thanks again Chase for including me in this wonderful experience.
DC JazzFest Look / Details
What does one wear to the DC JazzFest. The challenge is to fight the head, look cool but not too sloppy. Surprisingly I wore black. Black in summer? Sure if you keep it in light fabrics.
Black cotton stretch polo – Theory | Linen white linen pants with black stripes – Ralph Lauren | Black loafers – Bally
