Day 2 of New York Fashion Week Men’s was not as hectic as Day 1. Given the fact that I only had a handful of shows, I was still pretty busy. I hit Feng Chen Wang, Parke and Ronen, Nick Graham and Linder.

The Shows

So what were my favorites of the day? While I don’t think I can rock Feng Chen Wang like some of my more edgier friends, I do love her style. Especially after interviewing her last season. I really understand her design process. I was a fan of her coats and jackets especially these two.

Parke and Ronen known for their beachwear head up the Malibu shore for the inspiration. My favorites included the bold striped short-sleeved tops as well as the monochromatic looks. I could easily see these in my wardrobe next summer. Look out for me to style some great elevated casual looks with these clothes.

Next up was Nick Graham. In his collection, I could see myself in many of the suited look styles. Windowpane styles are always a plus in my book. Over at Linder, I was sensing a seventies vibe.

Inconveniences of Fashion Week

I’m very fortunate to attend a fashion week but as I was running from show to show, I thought of some of the minor inconveniences of Fashion Week. One of the first minor inconveniences of Fashion Week is TIME. There never seems to be enough. Regardless if you have three shows or thirty, time seems to go by so fast. And one big challenge is getting from show to show at different venues across town. Rarely does a show start on time and often some are scheduled back-to-back meaning you run the risk of missing something you’d really like to see. Sometimes Ubers and taxis are in short supply and the subway can have it’s own challenges. It’s funny watching the same people hightail to get to the next show. At least we can all commiserate together.

Another one of the minor inconveniences of Fashion Week is the ability to get a good shot of the looks presented. If you’re a large publication or have the means you can just pay a photographer to shoot everything for you. But if you’re a small shop like me you’ve just got to make do on your own. The shows are either runways or presentations. While I love a good runway show with the spectacle, it’s sometimes hard to get a good shot of the clothes from seat. The best vantage point is in the photography bank or close to it.

You have a little more control if the show is a presentation. You can take your time and grab a model’s attention to get the perfect shot. That is if you can get past the attendees holding inconsequential conversations in front of the looks or taking tons of selfies of themselves in front of the models. One nice perk however is many of the PR firms repping the designers or the designers themselves will send out images once the show is released. I love this because then you can really focus on the show and being in the moment.

New York Fashion Week is held in the winter and summer so weather can also play havoc during the shows. For winter wet and freezing cold conditions means extra layers to cart around as you attend the show. In summer, it’s trying to stay cool and look cool at the same time. I think this season; I did pretty well and beat the temperature.

For Day 2, I rocked a cotton suit from Express. As the DCFashion Fool, I wear a lot of different brands and different price points. This suit was super affordable and very cool. I went with a casual look pairing with a floral shirt and a simple pair of Adidas superstars.
