A few weeks ago, Black Menswear along with KT Winery hosted The Gentleman Launch Party in Washington, DC. The event was held at the Speakeasy at Capo Deli to spotlight the new wine collaboration between the Black Menswear organization and KT Winery, a black-owned and female-led winery. The new wine appropriately named, the Gentleman. It is a 2020 California red wine that features intense aromas of black cherry, plum, spice and sweet French oak.
KT Winery who believes, “Wine should not be boring,” worked with the Black Menswear founders to create a wine for the man of distinction: The Gentleman. The Gentleman launch party was a celebration of the collaboration bringing together the well-heeled of Washington to celebrate its success. As quoted by Black Menswear, the Gentleman was, “crafted by black men for all kings and queens of the culture.” Did you miss the Gentleman Launch party? Don’t worry you can still enjoy the wine. You can purchase a couple of bottles or case and host your own party.
Besides hosting the Gentleman Launch Party, you may have seen Black Menswear’s Instagram. It’s the site that sponsors and features the Black Menswear Flash Mob. These events have taken place in various cities around the country. And they’ve even popped up in Paris! And they) showcase some of the most dapper gentlemen you’ll ever see. It’s part of the organization’s efforts to change the negative narrative that has been prevalent in the media. Seeing hundreds of well-dressed distinguished men descend upon a city builds community and osters empowerment. It ultimately shows a positive side of black men that many never see. The group has previously held a flash mob in DC and plans to host its next in Baltimore on Saturday, Mary 14th. The event is free but to attend you should register. The flash mob will be starting at 10 am and be held at Preston Gardens Park.
The KT Winery/Black Menswear is not the group’s first collaboration. Earlier this year, Black Menswear and WEAR BRIMS released a limited luxury cream flat brim fedora and a short documentary highlighting the legacy and fashion that hats have played in helping black men shape their identity. And if you are wondering how many of the guys looks so dapper at the flash mobs, many are getting their suits custom-made through Black Menswear’s related company, BM and Co. Menswear.
