During the summer months, thousands flock to the sands of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware for a little fun in the sun. Whether it’s a quick day trip, regular weekend junkets or a lengthy vacation stay, Rehoboth is one of those east coast places to be and been seen.
The tiny town is packed with all the things needed for a perfect beach getaway: beautiful beach, fun boardwalk, cute shops and boutiques and fine dining. And definitely, no trip is complete without stops to some local institutions such as Grotto’s or Nicola’s for their infamous pizza, Dolles for some saltwater taffy or Kohr Bros for a soft serve cone of frozen custard in a variety of flavors.
Delaware is also known for its tax-free shopping and as such, boasts a series of outlets up and down the city’s main highway into town. While I’m all for a bargain, taking advantage of the fantastic savings can often lead to seeing the same outfits or clothing pieces out on many people all over town.
For my most recent visit to the beach, I chose pieces that you wouldn’t normally find in stores in town but were ideal for a great summer look. I picked up my polka dot shorts from Whiskey Ginger, the new men’s boutique in Washington, DC. The shorts by Jachs NY, an American company started in 2008, have a great worn look to them and are extremely comfortable. These shorts work very nicely for me as they were not super slim and fit great through my thighs.
A statement t-shirt is always on point during the summer. I prefer to steer clear from the “I’m with Stupid” or the lewd statement tees that are so prevalent at many of the tee-shirt shops on the boardwalk. Instead, I selected this fun tee by John Varvatos Star USA. The drumsticks look almost 3-D in person and almost look sewn on.
Finishing off my look are my Soludos espadrilles which along with a good pair of flip-flops belong in any travel bag when heading off for a beach excursion. Lastly, along with sunscreen, applied liberally of course, also I made sure to grab a pair of favorite sunglasses. These blue ones are by Dior Homme.
