My friend Shell says she never sees me at an event not wearing a suit. While I disagree with her, I will admit I do wear a lot of suits. I feel comfortable in them and I think I rock them pretty well. However, Shell was in for a surprise when I sported my brunch look last weekend.
While I do love a great tailored suit, I’m also a big fan of elevated casual styles. So for a Sunday brunch, a suit was definitely not in the cards. I definitely wanted something a little more relaxed but something a little fun as well. A big logo and bold prints were just the ticket for a Sunday Funday and great brunch look.
I remember when the Polo logo sweater came out last year, I fell in love with it instantly. I had to snap it up. It reminded me of Polo back in the day when I was uber preppy. I loved the nostalgia of the look. Back then I would have probably kept it really preppy with wide wale corduroys, a toggle coat and penny lodwes. But to bring the look more current I opted for plaid on plaid and military boots.
Plaid on plaid is fun look if you get the prints complimentary and roughly in the same color hue. It may be a little wild for some but it’s a fun look and sure to give you plenty of compliments. For my look compliment my Ralph Lauren sweater, I chose a plaid print overcoat from Billy Reid and plaid pants by Neil Katter. To finish the look, I opted for military boots by Valentino.
The sweater was the centerpiece of my look. Unfortunately it’s no longer available in stores but you can find it (new and used on sites like sites like eBay and Grailed. Plus, there are also some other Polo emblem sweaters that are available in stores that capture that nostalgia as well! This season, Polo added the bear to the logo for a fun look.
Similarly my coat and pants are no longer available either but I’ve added some great plaid pieces to rock with your logos!
